Overview
This course equips delegates with knowledge and skills required to perform third party audit of management systems against ISO 9001:2015, in accordance with audit methodology of ISO 19011. This acquired skill may also be utilized for first and second party Audits.
Students who successfully complete this Course will satisfy the training requirements for initial Registration as NABET QMS Provisional auditor.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the purpose of a QMS and explain the 8 principles of quality management.
- Explain the purpose, content and interrelationship of ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 9004 and ISO 19011.
- Interpret the requirements of ISO 9001 in the context of an audit.
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of auditors and Audit Team Leaders.
- Plan, prepare and conduct an audit in accordance with ISO 19011
- Look for conformance, Report the audit findings, including writing valid, factual and value adding non-conformity report, if found
- Undertake audit follow-up activities, including evaluating the effectiveness of corrective action.
Pre-requisite to attend this course:
- It is recommended that the students attending this course shall have adequate knowledge of ISO 9001 Standards and some prior knowledge of QMS auditing.
- It is also conveyed that no prior knowledge as above may lead to unsuccessful completion of this course and the gaps in this knowledge may not be covered during this course.

- Process-based Quality Management system Model
- Describe the certification/registration and accreditation processes, types of audits
(1st, 2nd and 3rd party) - Explain Statutory & Regulatory Requirements
- How to develop and use key audit tools like Adequacy audit checklists, Process Approach Audit Checklist & Audit Plan, to enable “value added” QMS audit.
- How to plan and prepare, conduct, report and follow-up QMS audits based on the “Process Approach” and effective audit Trails.
- Discuss various Audit Methodology, Audit Psychology, Questioning Techniques, Roles and Responsibility of Audit Team Leader to collect and analyze evidence, exercise objectivity and make decisions on the significance of findings made in accordance to relevant audit criteria.
